At Bluebird Day Architecture, we believe in architecture as lifestyle. The focus of our work, whether it be a weekend getaway peeking out over the shoreline or a mountaintop restaurant at your favorite ski slope, is the creation of spaces that support our clients’ active lifestyles. Our approach to work is to support our own active lifestyles. We love what we do. We love our work, but that’s not all we love. We have family, we have friends, and we have a genuine drive to get outside and spend time with them. Hiking, biking, skiing, sailing, fly-fishing, sitting on the beach and watching the sun set… We love to get outside and play. Doing so is a priority for both our clients and our staff. Ensuring that both clients and staff can live full lives, whatever that means to them, is our priority. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Project Architect/Project Manager

Bluebird Day Architecture is seeking a Project Architect/Project Manager with experience managing commercial projects. This is a great opportunity to work on a range of design-focused projects within a collaborative environment. Ideal candidate should have five or more years of experience producing construction documents and coordinating drawings with outside consultants. Experience with ArchiCAD software is strongly preferred.

We have embraced remote work. We expect our candidates to be comfortable (and happy) working from home. This policy has allowed us to work with some very talented individuals, and has allowed them far more flexibility in their work/life balance. That being said, we would prefer to hire staff in areas where we have or anticipate having projects on an ongoing basis, primarily northern, western, and central Michigan, though well-qualified candidates outside this area will also be given real consideration.

This will be a sub-contractor position for the foreseeable future.

  • Coordinate work with design staff to develop conceptual drawing & models.

  • Produce Presentation Drawings & Supplemental Materials as needed during Schematic Design & Design Development phases of project development.

  • Coordinate and oversee drawings with outside consultants as required for each project.

  • Understand and oversee development of building assemblies and site improvements.

  • Produce final Construction Drawings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in architecture or related field

  • Five or more years of experience in commercial project management

  • Experience in working with 3D BIM software, ArchiCAD strongly preferred

  • Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills
